After an accident - what should you do?
Answer:
1. Contact GESA ASSISTANCE to tow your vehicle. If there is bodily injury, call the police to the scene and report within 24 hours of the accident. Do not move the vehicle as exact measurements have to taken.
2. Note down the following:
• name(s) and address(es) of driver(s) involved
• vehicle number(s) and make of vehicle(s)
• name of insurer(s) and certificate of insurance number(s)
3. Obtain name(s) and address(es) of independent witness(es) and make a sketch plan of the accident. If possible, take photographs of the scene of accident.
4. Inform your insurer within office hours even if you do not intend to make a claim. This is a condition of your policy.
5. Never admit liability to the accident as this will prejudice yours as well as insurer's rights of recovery against the third party.
6. If any Writ of Summons or Notice of Intended Prosecution is served on you, your insurer should be contacted immediately. |
