We strive to create a positive impact in communities where we operate. In Singapore, we primarily support mental health initiatives through the Jardine Matheson Group’s charity MINDSET, while our subsidiaries and associates across Southeast Asia contribute to a range of programmes including education, healthcare and environmental conservation.

Across Southeast Asia

Our principal subsidiary, Astra International undertakes community programmes in education, environment, entrepreneurship and healthcare. Through its various initiatives and nine different foundations, Astra International has impacted various communities in Indonesia, including the economically disadvantaged as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

With a presence in different Southeast Asian markets, our other subsidiaries and associates also contribute to community programmes. They offer scholarships, provide funding and subsidise medical care for the underprivileged, as well as support disaster relief efforts. In addition, they contribute towards environmental conservation projects.

Efforts in Mental Health

Together with Jardine Matheson group companies through the registered charity MINDSET, JC&C has been actively contributing towards mental health.

We help to raise awareness to destigmatise mental health issues, and at the same time, provide tangible support through initiatives related to mental health.

In Singapore, one in 10 individuals has mental health issues. Yet there is a lack of understanding, exacerbated by social stigma. Support for mental illness is often under-resourced.

Since 2011, Jardine Cycle & Carriage (JC&C) has been actively contributing to mental health in Singapore through MINDSET. JC&C’s Group Managing Director, Alex Newbigging, serves as the Chairman of the Board and Steering Committee of MINDSET. Our staff volunteers also commit their time and efforts as ‘Jardine Ambassadors’ to implement activities and initiatives related to mental health.
